Susan Aasman est invitée à à l’Ecole nationale des chartes - PSL, sur proposition d'Emmanuelle Bermès, responsable pédagogique du master « Technologies numériques appliquées à l’histoire », du 28 février au 10 mars 2026.

Elle donnera une conférence dans le cadre de la PSL week le lundi 2 mars à 14h, en salle Quicherat (ouvert aux personnels, étudiants et élèves de l’École) intitulée « Always already new: exploring heritagization processes of "new" heritage objects ».

Résumé : 

In this opening lecture of the PSL course, Aasman will argue how the concept of heritagization, can help to understand historical potential of what seems so vernacular, ordinary and ephemeral in our contemporary culture. Why should we safeguard videogames, websites, tweets or tiktok videos? Based on her historical research in amateur media culture(s), she has come to understand the dynamics of yet a new media technology in our everyday lives. In the second half of the lecture, she will discuss how we need a methodology that allows a rich analysis of those new heritage objects and its related practices and what is therefore needed to be archived as well; based on a more heuristic understanding of the dispositif of a practice it will include not just the textual dimension, but also the material dimension (code, computers, cables), and the perception(oral histories etc).

Elle donnera également une conférence publique, le jeudi 5 mars à 18h en salle Delisle, intitulée « From Home Movies to Home Pages. Exploring public and private challenges in archiving the everyday ».
